Canada recalled Chinese-made battery
9th December 2009 , the Canadian Ministry of Health and Coby Electronics announced jointly that they recalled voluntarily made the rechargeable batteries on Coby Portable DVD/CD/MP3 players in China (without the DELL Inspiron 1300 battery ).
The recalled batteries were rechargeable battery sold with portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player Coby , the player , the screen 8.5 inches , Coby marked before the player , model TF -DVD -8501 standard is in the player to includes the bottom that were having the serial number on the charger with the letters ” HY “on top and a white mark Eitingon label.The players sold since January 2007 -2009 year in September in Canada , Lake Ontario and Quebec (some brand battery have been sold for many yrars , thinig for one).
The number of people affected by the recalled batteries is about 3050 units, which is having regard to reason , the charger can overheat and that may, after a fire hazard. Until now, Coby has 10 reports of battery overheating.8 cases, the smaller of the loss of property fire is maintained. there is no report of injuries now.
Therefore, Health Canada advised consumers to immediately with the recalled batteries and contact with the Coby free replacement battery, as Dell Inspiron 2000 Battery and so on.
